Writing Progress Log : W/E 9th October 2026

This week has been very productive. We reviewed the developmental edits for MMS Book 1 and I (Steve) began to read the manuscript from the beginning, and it is reading very well.

We needed to get back into development of The Bookshop Mysteries 7 – A Ring of Roses, and MMS Book 2. For A Ring of Roses I drafted chapters 31,32, 32, and 33, totalling 3773 words. For MMS Book 2, I wrote chapters 8, 9, 10, totalling 4727 words. So in total I drafted 8500 words. Not bad.

I am nearing the end of Act 1 on MMS Book 2. This has been hard to write because it required so much research, but by the end of this act we are in the main thrust of the story. It’s going well and it will be a fun story.

Our current plan is to complete draft 1 of A Ring of Roses by the end of October, leaving November for revisions. Then in December we want to send it to our editor for their edits. Ideally we will release A Ring of Roses in January as we need to coordinate it with the release of MMS Book 1. It’s going to be a busy few months, but we like being busy.
