Writing Progress Log : W/E 18th September 2026

I’m a little late posting this update as this weekend it was my (Steve) 50th birthday, so I stayed away from my computer. It was also mine and Amanda’s 23rd wedding anniversary. Yes, we got married on my birthday.

Last week was a productive week. For the Bookshop Mysteries 7 - A Ring of Roses, we drafted chapters 25, 26, and 27, which was a total of 4324 words.

For MMS Book 2, we drafted chapters 5 and 6, which was 2340 words. In total, that’s 6664 for the week.

In MMS Book 2, we are getting close to the murder that throws our protagonists into the thrust of the story. I always find Act 1 the hardest part of a book as it needs all the story setup, and in this case, it required a lot of research up front, but it’s coming along nicely.

For A Ring of Roses, we are now a good way into Act 2 and we have outlined the remaining story blocks, so we know the main beats that will lead us into the final. Progress on both books is good.
